One of the beautiful beaches where i collect my beach glass and shells for all my projects

Crafted by the Tides: Art & Intention from the Isle of Barra

Welcome. My name is Joan, and my work is rooted in the quiet rhythm of the Isle of Barra, a remote haven in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides, where the land meets the wild Atlantic.

My creative journey begins along the island's white-sand shorelines—like the favourite beach pictured above. Guided by daily coastal wanderings, I gather ocean-tumbled sea glass and natural shells washed ashore by the tides. Inside my hand-built workshop in Eoligarry, I merge these coastal elements with kiln-fired techniques to design bespoke fused-glass pendants, vibrant suncatchers, and fine art pieces.

My creative practice is deeply intertwined with my work as a Reiki Master Teacher and Holistic Therapist. This background brings a sense of mindfulness, peace, and intention to everything I craft, including a line of custom-designed Angel cards created to uplift and inspire.

Beyond glass art and holistic practice, photography allows me to capture the extraordinary light, waters, and landscape of the Hebrides. Each piece offered here—whether a unique glass design, a card set, or a custom commission—carries a tangible connection to the island’s natural beauty and calm energy.
